As I attempt to write my online book may I ask,...
Or makes for a good fiction novel?
Some of the most popular authors, such as Stephanie Meyer or Dan Brown are also amongst the most critically and publicly reviled (as is often the case ironically).
What makes for good quality writing? What separates a good author from bad, speaking purely objectively?
Is it how well it flows, if it uses expressive and sophisticated language? Is it a fast...

I wish we'd just do away with languages and...
And just have one global currency and one global language.
Don’t read this to mean I want the world to become one colourless, westernised, homogeneous mess, far from it; diversity makes life fun and interesting.
But these two small areas, that we seem to cling on to purely out of stubborn tradition or a misguided sense of what patriotism is. Especially in terms of language. Traditions...

sassygaycooper asked: I'm assuming those are the complete collections of the story line? And I understand nothing is going to be movie-verse, but I want to start reading the comics associated with it to gain nerd rep. I have to have SOMETHING to go off of if I'm going to wear marvel t-shirts, right? Because just having watched the movies doesn't give me enough street cred, no matter how enthusiastic I am...

What I feel the distant future of television...
To remain relevant or in-keeping with what the public really seems to desire.
I don’t know if this would be profitable, or manageable, or even realistically possible…
It’d start with paying a realistic fee per month just for the luxury of owning a TV, ala the standard licence fee
For the most part do away with channels. I know this sounds like sacrilege but how many of us...

sassygaycooper asked: I've been wanting to start reading Iron Man comics, but I have no fucking idea where to start, or where to find them at (short of ordering every single issue I can find). Can you suggest where to start, and/or a place to read them online?

sassygaycooper replied to your post: Well so long American Netflix
Netflix just lost their contract with Starz, so that depleted a HUGE quantity of movies available. they’re just getting shitty all around, and if there were any other place to go for it I would.
To be fair, what I, and many others in the UK were doing was sort of illeagal…accessing the American content by changing my DNS....

Well so long American Netflix
It was good whilst it lasted, after seeing all that content and then comparing it to the UK one, which is completely lacklustre and where most of the content is already on 4OD for free, it’s simply not worth £72 a year.
Willing to pay for content not freely available or even commerically available at all in UK = Blocked. Time for illegal downloads that only chew up my broadband!
Logic...

Just so I can eat as much shit as I like and feel some sort of karmic/health balance.

I really don’t get that aggravated or worked up over most things that trivial.

What's your dream?
Mine has a few tiers based on the level of how unlikely they are…
Tier 1 - Reasonable) Gain independence, overcome whatever personal problems and ‘demons’ are holding me back, and live on my own doing a reasonable job of work, nothing special, fancy or well paying but enough to keep me afloat
Tier 2 - Hopeful) Be able to get with a nice girl and hopefully establish ourselves in...

I sometimes make a few misguided attempts at...
As in don’t watch previews, trailers, anything. Don’t listen to or read early spoilerific reviews.
Just see a film has 70-90% odd approval on Metacritic or Rotten Tomatoes and go for it.
Even if you made a conscious effort to avoid all that though there’s still TV adverts, tumblr, trailers at the cinema…speaking of which
When I went to see Chronicle there was an...

John Carter was being made long before Avatar was finished, so any profit on Avatar’s part was purely speculative. It may well have been chosen because of prospects and similarities (and because Barsoom has 11 books, kerching) but no physical profit.
Thank you that was very informative :)

Not to mention that the history of The Princess of Mars/John Carter series of books have been trying to get made for the big screen for years upon years now. There have been so many failed projects. It’s always been considered, though. hard to type..

Beautifully made, grounded realist works are essential and can tell brilliant, moving heart rending stories
But nothing fires up the public’s imagination, catches their interest or ignite’s passions like good ‘genre’ cinema.
Popcorn is a dirty word nowadays but those films are the one’s that become cultural meme’s and a shorthand in the popular consciousness...

jetmcfancy replied to your post: Please be good John Carter
To be fair it does look very similiar literally because that stuff was in the books and it’s been lifted from the source material! To make it original would be to ignore the material you’re adaptin’ it from.
To be fair to me though buddy I think I kind of suggested that, but regardless yeah, you’re right.

Please be good John Carter
Please don’t just be Attack of the Clones meets Avatar.*
And yes I’m aware of the irony of criticising a film based on an ancient book series that influenced a lot of western sci-fi and pop culture of looking a tad derivative.
But it does look undeniably very familiar. No early reviews though, as well? Andrew Stanton is great mind, so I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt...

That slowed down the brain and muted all the inessential pointless thoughts that we have, that make us anxious or unable to concentrate or get distracted, or prohibit us from doing the things we want or need to do.
Yet also simultaneously gave us the ability to focus on the thing at hand that we need to do. So we don’t zone out during a film or videogame and have to rewind it to understand...

Things I gleamed from the new Avengers trailer…
The part where Hulk catches Iron Man is a thing of beauty which warmed my heart
Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow is hotter than Pyro and Firestorm put together (Sniff, nerdy references understandably lost on most people sniff!) The red hair! The perfect face! Looking like that in that outfit.
I still have a man crush on Chris Hemsworth....
